DEPRESSION & MENTAL DISORDERS

"He, who knows how to listen, hears wisdom.
He, who does not know how to listen, hears only noise."
Chinese saying.

The human brain is a marvel and like a super computer whizzes along controlling the body’s functions and sending out operating signals with unmatched speed.  It is probably the least understood part of the human body although progress has been made.

Disorders range from Autism to Schizophrenia.  Chemical imbalance and electrical malfunction receive some of the blame.  Injuries, drug misuse, stress and life changing events also contribute.  Traditional treatment has limited success and the medical community has a long way to go.

Being stupid, isn't not knowing much, nor is it not wanting to know much.
Being stupid, is believing you know enough.
A.J. Daniel-novelist

Another condition that has been receiving a lot of press lately is Postpartum Depression. According to the medical community, this condition is quite common after childbirth. Some of the causes are hormone changes, a long awaited event is now over and sometimes this triggers a letdown. Some new mothers feel afraid and under confident. Last but not least is the change in lifestyle a new baby brings to the household and the fatigue a new mother has to deal with on a daily basis.

Symptoms include being seriously depressed and feeling you are unable to take care of yourself or the baby. Self help includes avoiding being overly tired. Get some help from your spouse on the night feedings and get relatives or friends to pitch in on shopping or even watching the baby for a while to allow you to catch up on sleep. If you can't work thru the depression by all means see your physician.

We have a certain responsibility to keep our bodies in good health,
as far as it lies within our power to do so…as a loan from God.

Our NATURAL & ALTERNATIVE HEALING RESOURCE DIRECTORY provides information on great products and where to buy them that specifically target many of the conditions that affect "modern man" today.  Drinking Kombucha on a regular basis also may very well be the most important thing you can do to regain and maintain good health.

This ain't yo mama's tea

Kombucha, an Oriental fermented tea remedy, just might be of benefit in improving the quality of life for those suffering from depression or some other form of mental disorder.  It addresses the whole body’s systems and works as follows:

Americans have been clogging up their arteries, veins and organs for years with chemically altered fats and food additives.  It is estimated that adult Americans consume about 5 pounds of chemical additives each year. The FDA has approved the use of more than 3,000 food additives.  Another 1,000 are GRAS (generally regarded as safe) within specified levels.  When you throw in the fertilizers, pesticides and environmental hazards etc around 7,000 chemicals appear in our food chain.  Could these chemicals be a contributing factor to mental health problems?  Who knows for sure.

Many refer to Kombucha as an ancient remedy for modern man’s ills.  It seems to be the equivalent to STP gas treatment, carburetor cleaner and radiator flush all rolled into one.  It slowly detoxifies and pulls the toxins out at the cellular and molecular level.  Glucuronic acid (GA) binds toxins in the liver which are then eliminated in the urine.  Toxins bound by GA cannot be reabsorbed by the intestines or the urinary system.

Vitamins B1, B2, B12 and B6 are produced by the fermentation process and contained in Kombucha. They assist in the maintaining of the body’s network of nerves. There is evidence they are important in reducing the symptoms of depression and memory loss in older people. B12 seems to enable people to think more clearly even if they don’t have a serious mental health disorder.

The fermentation process produces a variety of substances from acetylcholine, which benefits the body’s nervous system to choline, which normalizes blood pressure and prevents hypertension.

Lactic acid successfully battles digestive problems by aiding in the expulsion and elimination of unfriendly bacteria and cleansing the bowels.

The pH of Kombucha is the same as your stomach fluids should be.  It therefore acts to normalize the stomach acids so there is less heartburn etc.  Digestion is improved so nutrients in food and drink are more readily available to nourish the various part of your body, hence more energy.

The friendly bacteria and beneficial yeasts (not to be confused with candida) nourish colon flora and a healthy intestinal tract is needed for healing to begin.

All of these benefits taken as a sum result in a healthier body with an improved immune system that is more capable of taking care of itself.  People drinking Kombucha often say they feel more at “peace”.  Some people talk in reverent tones of feeling “closer to god”.  A person who is more at “peace” is less likely to suffer from stress.  And a person whose body is working in a more normal manner is less likely to suffer the chemical imbalances that seem to go with stress.

Dr. Maxim Bing recommends Kombucha as a “very effective means of combating anxiety, irritability, aches & pains, headaches, dizziness, etc.

Dr. Hans Irion taught in his training course for pharmacists that Kombucha relieved many conditions including nervous tension.

As early as 1928, Professor B. Lokowitz confirmed the effectiveness of Kombucha for digestive upsets and added that headaches and nervous disorders could be alleviated.

Mrs. S: Last year my son had a serious car accident with grave head injuries. He was unconscious a long time and subsequently suffered a serious lack of concentration. I gave him Kombucha and the drops to improve oxygen flow. He has now improved to the degree he has resumed his college studies.

A brother-in-law used to spend most of the day in bed.  Since being on Kombucha his depression has improved and he recently painted all the windows of his house.  Frau West, Germany

Kenneth of AR is a believer:  At age 44 he has spent 10 years on disability from his job of driving a truck.  His medical infirmities have included a bad heart, enlarged prostate, high blood pressure, bad digestion, diabetes and depression.  A few months ago, one of his neighbors gave him a Kombucha mushroom.  Since then, it’s just like I’m a little kid again, Sikorsky said.  He still has heart problems but his other ailments seem to have vanished.

Sally Ann of CA reports:  The beverage itself has softened my skin and made it shine.  My fingernails are stronger, my caffeine addiction has been transformed into enjoyment, not need.  My appetite seems to be getting fine-tuned and I have an increased desire to drink pure, clean water.  I notice in myself a sense of gentleness and well being.

Kombucha by itself doesn't cure anything.
It simply nourishes at the cellular level so that your marvelous body can heal itself.

It costs only about $5 a month since you brew the tea yourself. About 1 or 2 hours a month is needed for the brewing and cleanup. It's also simple. If you can bake a Duncan Hines cake then you too can be a Master Brewmeister.
