UTERINE FIBROID TUMORS
FIBROADENOMA
FIBROCYSTIC BREAST
"He, who knows how to listen, hears wisdom.
He, who does not know how to listen, hears only noise."
Chinese saying.
Uterine fibroid tumors are benign growths in or on the uterus. Also known as myomas, leiomyomas or polyps, they are the most common type of abnormal
growth in a woman's pelvis.
They occur in about 25% of women and are most common between the ages of 30
to 40 years. Most fibroids, even large ones, produce no symptoms. Some women
do experience pain in the abdomen and lower back, abdominal pressure, and
more frequent urination.
Also, changes in the amount, frequency and duration of menstruation may
occur. Heavy flows can lead to anemia. Fibroids can sometimes block the
entrance to a fallopian tube or distort the inner surface of the uterus
which can cause miscarriage or infertility.
The reason they develop is unknown although it is believed estrogen appears
to promote their growth and development. They can vary in size from a pea to
a grapefruit. Sometimes they get so large they are mistaken for a pregnancy.
Fibroids rarely become cancerous and when they do it is usually after
menopause. If the Doctor cannot distinguish the fibroid from a cancerous
tumor a hysterectomy might be performed.
We have a certain responsibility to keep our bodies in good health,
as far as it lies within our power to do so…as a loan from God.
Many women of child bearing age prefer that the fibroids would simply "go
away" if possible. Others elect to have embolization which is cutting off
the blood supply in order to shrink the tumor. There is also ablation which
is a procedure to cut, scrape or burn the tumor away.
Fibroadenoma is a firm benign fibrous growth in the breast that are solid
lumps that contain no liquid. There are very common, occurring most frequently
in young women. They appear usually within 20 years of puberty. They range
from the size of a pea to that of a lemon. They cause no pain or nipple
discharge. They are not related to cancer and usually require no treatment
unless the Doctor is unable to distinguish the difference from it being a Fibroadenoma or a more serious growth such as Cancer. The causes are
unknown.
Fibrocystic Breast Disease is most common in women between the ages of 30
and 50 and rare in women after menopause. The benign lumps and cysts are
painful and usually a woman has several. The pain increases and the cysts
enlarge towards the end of the menstrual cycle. The lumps may appear and
disappear rapidly. The condition is very common and most likely is linked to
estrogen.
Fibrocystic breasts are not cancerous but there is a risk of breast cancer
in women who have atypical cells lining the cysts. The lumps can be drained
with needle aspiration. To avoid the pain, wearing bras with good support is
helpful and avoid consumption of caffeine. When symptoms are severe,
diuretics, danazol or progesterone might be prescribed.

Kombu. . what, you might ask.
What is it?
It is an Oriental fermented tea remedy that can be traced back to 400 B.C. where
it originated in what is known today as Korea. It is perfectly safe and is used
today by 500 million people around the world. Emperors, Czars and even an
American President have used the tea. The President in the 1980/s was being
treated for Cancer and was having metastases (spreading of cancer cells). A
culture was brought in from Japan and incorporated into his treatment. He
survived and lived into his nineties.
It wasn't until 1993 that Kombucha was introduced to the American public. Today,
over 3,000,000 Americans drink Kombucha on a regular basis.
So what can Kombucha do for those with uterine fibroid tumors and breasts
lumps and cysts?
Since Kombucha really didn't get a start in America until 1993 there really
hasn't been much in the way of studies on fibroids and cysts or even
testimonies since many women are not even aware they have them. The positive
effects of Kombucha on the total body and its systems does hold promise,
however.
Kombucha seems to be the biological equivalent of STP gas treatment,
carburetor cleaner and radiator flush all rolled into one. It works at the
cellular and molecular level pulling toxins out. Glucuronic acid (GA) then
binds toxins in the liver which are then eliminated via your urine. Toxins
bound by GA cannot be reabsorbed by the intestines or the urinary system.
This detoxification and flushing promotes a healthier bladder, liver and
pancreas.
Dr. Valentin Kohler in 1961 in a magazine wrote an article, "Glucuronic Acid gives cancer patients hope. His cancer patients had encouraging results with gllucuronic acid increasing their physical resistance to cancer and possibly boosting interferon production. Glucuronic acid is one of the products formed during the Kombucha fermentation process.
Properly fermented tea is also the same pH as the stomach fluids are
supposed to be. It therefore helps balance stomach juices so they are not
too acidic or too alkaline.
Several important acids are in properly fermented Kombucha which coupled
with balanced pH create a hostile environment for pathogens. If pathogens
can't thrive and multiply there is less chance of infections.
Kombucha is a living tea containing friendly bacteria and beneficial yeasts
(not to be confused with the Candida variety). It is very beneficial in
nourishing intestinal flora and should relieve many conditions involving the
digestive tract. It also contains lactic acid and acetic acid which deter
the growth of harmful bacteria.
The fermentation process produces a variety of substances from
acetylcholine, which benefits the body's nervous system to choline which
normalizes blood pressure and prevents hypertension.
Kombucha is also an adaptogen in that it balances systems that get out of
balance. For example it might help raise blood pressure for someone with low
pressure or lower blood pressure for someone with high pressure. This
balancing property might play an active roll in reducing or eliminating
fibroids and cysts since out of balance estrogen may be a major factor.
It is helpful in achieving and maintaining healthy digestive and urinary
tracts and nourishes white and red blood cells, which is also a positive
factor. You might also find the information on our Candida, Menopause, hot
flashes, PMS and Chemotherapy pages helpful.
Suzanne was a skeptic who had cystic fibroid disease for 10 years. Every few
years the Doctors would aspirate the cysts. She just didn't like going to
the Doctors and even knowing her condition wasn't cancer it still scared
her.
A friend sent her a Kombucha mushroom. After a week of drinking the tea, the
lumps "went away". While on Christmas vacation for 2 weeks, she did NOT
drink the tea and the lumps came back. She said she isn't crazy about the
taste of the tea but manages to drink about 6 ounces a day which keeps the
lumps at bay.
Kombucha sometimes enhances the effectiveness of medications. If you are on
medication of any kind it is important to keep your health provider informed
in case a change in dosage is needed.
Kombucha by itself
doesn't cure anything.
It simply nourishes at the cellular level so that your
marvelous body can heal itself.
It costs only about $5 a month since you brew the tea yourself. About 1 or 2
hours a month is needed for the brewing and cleanup. It's also simple. If you
can bake a Duncan Hines cake then you too can be a Master Brewmeister.
