PROSTATE FUNCTION & DISORDERS
"He, who knows how to listen, hears wisdom.
He, who does not know how to listen, hears only noise."
Chinese saying.
The Prostate Gland is a small, walnut sized organ in a man. The gland
produces fluids that form part of semen. Sperm (male sex cells) pass
through a duct in the prostate, and the fluids produced there nourish
them and make them more active. The prostate gland matures and enlarges
during puberty and can continue to grow slowly in men even after age 50.
As men age they often are afflicted with various prostate disorders.
Being stupid, isn't not knowing much, nor is it not wanting to know much.
Being stupid, is believing you know enough.
A.J. Daniel-novelist
Enlarged prostate, is a noncancerous swelling of the prostate gland. It
is technically called benign prostatic hyperplasia and is usually a sign
of aging. The disease is rare before 40 but affects over 50% of men by
age 60. About half of those with enlarged prostate require medical
attention.
The disease first develops in the portion of the prostate that surrounds
the urethra causing a narrowing of this urinary passage. Symptoms
include slowed or delayed start of urination, a weak urine stream and
difficulty in emptying the bladder. Also you can have blood in the
urine, pain during urination, frequent urination, repeated urinary tract
infections, increased urination at night, leaking of urine and strong
desires to urinate. In severe cases the ability to urinate is lost due
to a blockage to the urinary tract by the enlarged prostate or the loss
of muscle tone and strength in the bladder.
The inability to urinate may develop slowly leading to kidney damage and
ultimately kidney failure. It can also develop suddenly and be very
painful. Complete blockage is considered a medical emergency. Sometimes
an enlarged prostate and prostate cancer develop at the same time.
Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate gland. It can be caused
by a number of microorganisms similar to those found in the intestinal
tract and any number of bacteria that cause the usual and customary
bladder and urinary tract infections. Symptoms can include fever and
chills, pain in the lower back and abdomen or pain in the testicles or
the area between the scrotum and anus. Other symptoms include pain or
burning when urinating, ejaculating or bowel movements. Increased urge
to urinate, blood in the urine or semen and aches in the muscles and
joints are possible. The infection can also spread to other areas and
organs such as the bladder and testicles.
While undergoing treatment for prostatitis you need to consume large
amounts of fluids such as water. Eliminate caffeine, alcohol, spicy
food, chocolate, tomatoes and citrus juices from your diet.
Medicine cures three tenths, diet cures seven tenths.
From China
The prostate condition that men fear most of course is prostate cancer.
It is the 2nd most common cancer in men with skin cancer ranking #1. It
affects 1 in 8 men over the course of a lifetime. It is the 2nd most
common cause of cancer death in men exceeded only by lung cancer.
Prostate cancer usually progresses slowly and is normally not detected
until it spreads outside the prostate. The first other areas affected
include the bladder, urethra, seminal vesicles. Later it can spread to
your bones.
Symptoms can include blood in the urine, pain or difficulty in
urination, the need to urinate frequently which are similar to the
symptoms of prostatitis. Prostate cancer symptoms can also cause an
inability to achieve or maintain an erection and persistent pain in the
pelvis, lower back and upper legs. These are all common symptoms that
can be caused by a number of other conditions therefore prostate cancer
is masked very well and difficult to diagnose early.
Prostate cancer is rare in men under 50 and most common in men over age
65. Heredity is also a factor. If prostate cancer has affected your
father or brothers you are more at risk. Treatment can include surgery,
radiation, hormone therapy and chemotherapy.
We have a certain responsibility to keep our bodies in good health,
as far as it lies within our power to do so…as a loan from God.
Obviously, with early detection being so difficult, prevention is the
best medicine where prostate disorders are concerned.

Kombu. . what, you might ask.
What is it?
It is an Oriental fermented tea remedy that can be traced back to 400 B.C. where
it originated in what is known today as Korea. It is perfectly safe and is used
today by 500 million people around the world. Emperors, Czars and even an
American President have used the tea. The President in the 1980/s was being
treated for Cancer and was having metastases (spreading of cancer cells). A
culture was brought in from Japan and incorporated into his treatment. He
survived and lived into his nineties.
It wasn't until 1993 that Kombucha was introduced to the American public. Today,
over 3,000,000 Americans drink Kombucha on a regular basis.
One might think of Kombucha as a microbiological digestive aid. The tea
is the biological equivalent of STP gas treatment, carburetor cleaner
and radiator flush all rolled into one. It works at the cellular and
molecular level pulling toxins and waste materials out. Glucuronic acid
(GA) then binds the materials in the liver which are then eliminated via
your urine. Material bound by GA cannot be reabsorbed by the urinary
system or the intestines. This detoxification and flushing promotes a
healthier bladder, liver, pancreas and prostate.
Dr. Valentin Kohler in 1961 in a magazine wrote an article, "Glucuronic
Acid gives cancer patients hope. His cancer patients had encouraging
results with glucuronic acid increasing their physical resistance to
cancer and possibly boosting interferon production. Glucuronic acid is
one of the products formed during the Kombucha fermentation process.
The usnic acid produced has antibiotic properties and may also prevent tumors
from growing.
Properly fermented tea is also the same pH as the stomach fluids are
supposed to be. It therefore helps balance stomach juices so they are not
too acidic or too alkaline.
Kombucha is a living tea containing friendly bacteria and beneficial yeasts (not
to be confused with the Candida variety). It is very beneficial in nourishing
intestinal flora that might have been damaged by chemo drugs and radiation. A
healthy intestinal tract is necessary for healing to begin. The tea also
contains lactic acid and acetic acid which deter the growth of harmful bacteria.
Since the tea aids healthy digestion, the nutrients in food and drink are more
readily available for the rest of the body to utilize in performing the body's
normal functions, hence more energy.
The fermentation process produces a variety of substances from acetylcholine,
which benefits the body's nervous system to choline which normalizes blood
pressure and prevents hypertension.
Properly fermented tea is also the same pH as the stomach fluids are supposed to
be. It therefore helps balance stomach juices so they are not too acidic or too
alkaline. This should relieve digestive conditions such as heartburn, nausea,
indigestion etc.
Kombucha by itself
doesn't cure anything.
It simply nourishes at the cellular level so that your
marvelous body can heal itself.
It costs only about $5 a month since you brew the tea yourself. About 1 or 2
hours a month is needed for the brewing and cleanup. It's also simple. If you
can bake a Duncan Hines cake then you too can be a Master Brewmeister.
